Who charges me, and why did I get a charge?
If you subscribed in the iPhone app, Apple charges you, not us. Apple takes the payment, sends the receipt, adds any sales tax, and shows the charge on your statement as Apple. Apple also handles cancellations and refunds for these charges. We never see your card or PayPal details, and we cannot cancel or refund an App Store charge ourselves.
If you subscribed in the Android app, Google Play charges you, not us. Google takes the payment through your Google account and sends the receipt. Google Play also handles cancellations, and refunds within 48 hours of a charge; after that, email us and we will look at it. We cannot cancel a Google Play subscription for you.
If you subscribed on our website (app.thepossibilityapp.com), we charge you, and we cancel and refund those charges ourselves.
Why a charge appeared: every plan starts with a free 14 day trial. When the trial ends, the plan you picked starts on its own, unless you canceled at least 24 hours before. A monthly plan charges once a month. The yearly plan charges the whole year at once, $214.99 plus any sales tax on iPhone and the web (Google Play shows its price at checkout), and then not again for a year.
Not sure where you signed up? A receipt from Apple means the iPhone app. A receipt from Google Play means the Android app. Email us either way and we will look it up for you.
Some meditations keep sending me to a payment page. Is that a glitch?
Not a glitch, that's the free version doing its job. Without a subscription you get a sample sleep hypno-meditation, the soundscapes, and the breathing tools. The full library of Jim's hypno-meditations, the 14-Day Transformation, and coaching open with a subscription, and every plan begins with a free 14 day trial, so you can experience everything before paying anything. Get the app and start your free trial, or tap any locked session in the app to begin. If you've already subscribed or said yes to the book and still see the payment page, email us and we'll fix it fast.
How do I cancel my subscription on iPhone?
Subscriptions started in the iPhone app are billed by Apple, so canceling happens in your Apple settings, and it takes about a minute:
- Open Settings on your iPhone and tap your name at the top.
- Tap Subscriptions.
- Tap The Possibility, then Cancel Subscription (or Cancel Free Trial).
Or go straight there: apps.apple.com/account/subscriptions. Apple's own guide, with screenshots of each step: Cancel a subscription from Apple. A few things worth knowing: canceling stops the next charge and you keep everything until the end of the period you already have. If you are on a free trial, cancel at least 24 hours before it ends and Apple will not bill you at all. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription. And Apple only lets the account holder cancel, so we cannot do it for you, but if you get stuck, email us and we will walk you through it.
How do I cancel my subscription on Android?
Subscriptions started in the Android app are billed by Google Play, so canceling happens in the Play Store:
- Open the Google Play Store app and tap your profile picture.
- Tap Payments & subscriptions, then Subscriptions.
- Choose The Possibility and tap Cancel subscription.
Or go straight there: play.google.com/store/account/subscriptions. Google's own guide: Cancel, pause, or change a subscription on Google Play. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription. We cannot cancel a Google Play subscription for you, but if you get stuck, email us and we will walk you through it.
How do I get a refund for an iPhone charge?
Apple takes the payment, so Apple handles the refund. Requests usually get an answer within a day or two, and a charge right after a trial or a duplicate subscription is the kind Apple normally refunds. Here is how:
- Go to reportaproblem.apple.com and sign in with the Apple account you used in the app.
- Find the charge from The Possibility.
- Choose Request a refund, pick the reason that fits (for example, "I didn't mean to buy this" or "I was charged twice"), and submit.
Apple's own guide, with screenshots: Request a refund for apps or content you bought from Apple. Apple sends its decision by email, and the money goes back to the card you paid with. We cannot issue App Store refunds ourselves, but if Apple says no or you are not sure what to choose, email us and we will help you sort it out.
How do I get a refund for an Android charge?
Google Play takes the payment. Within 48 hours of a charge, ask Google for the refund from your Google Play order history: find the charge from The Possibility and request a refund. Google's own guide: Learn about Google Play refund policies. After 48 hours, email us at support@thepossibilityapp.com and we will look at it.
How do I cancel or get a refund on the web app?
Web subscriptions are billed by us, not Apple or Google, so we can do both directly. To cancel, open the web app and tap You → Settings, or just email us. For a refund, email us with the email address on your account and we will take care of it.
I signed up in two places (the website, the iPhone app or the Android app). Will I be charged twice?
You could be, so let's fix it now. A trial started on our website, one started in the iPhone app (App Store) and one started in the Android app (Google Play) are separate subscriptions, and each one bills on its own when its 14 days are up. Canceling one does not cancel another. Keep the one you want and cancel the other where you bought it: the website one we can cancel and refund for you, just email us; the iPhone one you cancel in your Apple settings, the Android one in the Google Play Store (steps above). Not sure which you have? Email us the address you signed up with and we will check for you.
Do I need a code? I have the audiobook or ebook.
No code, whichever edition you have. In the iPhone or Android app, say yes when Jim asks about the book and sign in with your email. On the web, choose Book Companion in the form above or go to thepossibilityapp.com/book, enter your email, and your Book Companion opens right there, with a one-tap link in your inbox that works for 30 days on any phone or computer. The audiobook and ebook have no QR page, and that's fine, the email is the key. Already registered? The same email brings a fresh link. If it still won't open, write in with the email you used.
How do I delete my account and data?
In the app, tap You → Settings → Account → Delete Account, in the iPhone app, the Android app and the web app alike. This permanently removes your personal data from our systems, as described in the Privacy Policy. You can also email us and we'll process the deletion for you.
Audio won't play or downloads fail.
First, check your connection and that your phone's software is up to date. Then force-quit and reopen the app. If a specific session still fails, tell us which one: that detail usually lets us fix it the same day.
